Admission Standards
Direct freshman admission is possible to all our Bachelor of Science degree programs except athletic training. The criteria that must be met for direct freshman admission are:
- The applicant must have earned either a minimum test score of 1270 on the combined verbal and math portions of the SAT, or a composite test score of 29 on the ACT.
- The applicant must have graduated in the top 12% of his or her high school graduating class.
All other newly admitted freshmen enter the University Division and complete at least 26 credits before entering an upper-division major. While in the University Division, it is necessary for each student to declare a major. Requirements for entry into School of HPER majors are listed in the following table.

Note: An international applicant to IU who wishes to pursue an undergraduate degree in the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation must submit TOEFL scores if his or her native language is not English.
