Dean Robert Goodman

"Join us in engaging students in the quest for knowledge that prepares them to take on leadership roles in a society that desperately needs a renewed commitment to healthy lifestyles."

Ways to Give

There are many ways to give to the School of HPER.

Gifts through our Annual Fund support today's critical need for scholarships, modern technology and equipment, and research opportunities for students and faculty.

Endowed gifts are an investment in our future. These gifts, whether through cash, securities, life insurance, or charitable annuities and trusts, provide critical support in perpetuity. A named faculty position, a lecture series, undergraduate scholarships, and graduate fellowships are all made possible through endowments. Read more about establishing endowed chairs and professorships and scholarships and fellowships.

Making a charitable bequest to HPER reduces estate taxes for your heirs and brings you the satisfaction of knowing your legacy to HPER will benefit future generations. You can choose how and where your gift will be used. Read about some of the different options for planned giving that can benefit you and the School of HPER.

For more information about any of our giving options, including Charitable Remainder Unitrusts and Charitable Gift Annuities, contact the Office of Advancement.

Donors may give to the School of HPER online through the Indiana University Foundation.

Chairs and Professorships

"When you build, build for a lifetime. Build for a thousand years."
—Herman B Wells

A great teacher has the ability to challenge and instruct a new generation of leaders, awakening a spark of interest for research and learning that lasts a lifetime. HPER's outstanding faculty plays an important role in building the economic strength of the state of Indiana. There are recreation leaders who teach people to lead more healthful lifestyles, researchers whose studies of asthma, obesity, and smoking cessation have changed lives, and professors whose personal connections with students have had a major impact on those students' career paths. From combating AIDS to understanding obesity, our faculty's research has a positive impact on people's lives throughout the state and beyond.

To remain competitive in a market for outstanding teachers, HPER seeks to substantially increase our faculty endowments. By doing so, we ensure that future generations of students have the opportunities created by outstanding faculty. See a list of endowed chairs and professorships in the School of HPER.

Scholarships and Fellowships

Through endowed scholarships and annual awards, HPER is able to provide more than $700,000 annually in student financial assistance. Scholarship and fellowship support makes it possible for promising students to complete a HPER degree, ensuring that the school will continue to attract and retain the most outstanding and highly qualified students.
