Campus faculty/staff wellness program
The Strategic Plan for the Life Sciences at Indiana University serves as the centerpiece for important initiatives that will drive the agenda of the University for years to come. The School of HPER is an important player in the Life Sciences (i.e. the science of humanity). Specifically, Goal #7of the plan is clearly focused on “Personal Wellness and Health.” Therefore, as one of HPER’s Life Science Initiatives, and in response to a request for a proposal from President Adam Herbert, we are in the process of preparing a proposal for a Comprehensive Staff/Faculty Wellness Program.
The primary purposes of this exciting new campus outreach are to:
- Deliver a significant service to the campus community designed to improve personal health and wellness
- Involve our faculty and students in collaborative ways to enhance their ongoing research and scholarship, and teaching and learning needs.
Associate Dean for Research, David Koceja and Assistant Dean for Special Projects, Kathy Bayless are serving as primary writers of the proposal. There will be multiple input and vetting opportunities by faculty and staff. We are excited about this opportunity to reach out to our campus colleagues in ways that will lead to improved health and wellness and at the same time provide opportunities for answering significant research questions and providing meaningful teaching and learning opportunities.
