IU Executive Development Program Scholarship

Scholarship History:

The Indiana University Executive Development Program is a continuing education program for parks and recreation professionals. The program was established in 1967 and offers education opportunities focusing on leadership and management skill development. The Scholarship was created to recognize and assist future park and recreation professionals.  The IU Executive Development Program is directed by Dr. Julie Knapp (Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Studies) and coordinated with the help of the IU EDP Board of Directors.  Their commitment to the Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Studies and the Executive Development Program has led them to establish the IU Executive Development Program Scholarship for Park and Recreation Students to benefit undergraduate and graduate students who have worked in Parks and Recreation during their undergraduate or graduate education at Indiana University and are actively pursuing a career in parks and recreation.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Undergraduate or graduate status.
  • Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.3
  • Student has previously worked (either paid or volunteer) in a parks and recreation setting during his/her undergraduate or graduate education.
  • Preference is given to those in financial need
    • Preferred Qualifications (but not required):
      • Membership in a national or state association related to parks and recreation.
      • Major emphasis in Park and Recreation Management.
      • Career goals related to parks and recreation.
