Ruth Mary Griswold Scholarship

Scholarship History:

The Ruth Mary Griswold Scholarship was established in 1967 as a result of royalties from a nutrition textbook written by her titled: The Experimental Study of Foods, copyright 1962 and through a bequest established in her will. Professor Griswold was an Indiana University nutrition faculty member from 1951-1966 in the Home Economics Department under the auspices of the College of Arts and Sciences. She believed in the notion of Home Economics which included nutrition, dietetics, human development, and family studies as well as textiles, clothing, consumer education, interior design, and home economic education.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Graduate or undergraduate status.
  • Major and completed two (2) full semesters in nutrition, dietetics, or human development/family studies.
  • GPA of 3.25 or above.
  • Must be enrolled as a full time student in the major at Indiana University.
  • Written statement of professional goals and how they will be attained.
