John Andrew Jarboe Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship History:

The Department of Recreation & Park Administration in cooperation with Indiana University Foundation annually presents the John Andrew Jarboe Memorial Outdoor Recreation Scholarship to a junior or senior majoring in recreation and park administration who has demonstrated excellence in academic, personal and professional development. Dr. & Mrs. Everett E. Jarboe of Bloomington established this scholarship in 1979 in memory of their son John Andrew Jarboe. Dr. Jarboe was an emeritus professor in the School of Education and Mrs. Jarboe retired as a reference librarian in the Main Library. The Jarboes always had a special interest in the work of Professor Reynold E. Carlson, now deceased, the Bradford Woods camping/outdoor recreation programs, and the Department of Recreation and Park Administration. Everett Jarboe passed away in 2006.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Undergraduate status.
  • Enrolled at Indiana University Bloomington Campus.
  • Majoring in Recreation.
  • Preference will be given first to undergraduate students concentrating their study in the area of Recreation, Park and Tourism Studies with an emphasis on Outdoor Recreation. Second, to the undergraduate student in the Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Studies with the highest GPA.
