Curtis R. Simic Scholarship
Scholarship History:
Curt Simic is a graduate of the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation who intended to spend his career as a physical education teacher and coach. However, a job at the IU Foundation, while he was still a student, led him to a different vocation. Since his student days, Curt has held a variety of positions in development and alumni relations including: the University of Tennessee, Yale University, University of Alabama, University of Oregon, and the University of California at Berkeley. In 1988 Mr. Simic returned to Indiana University as the president of the IU Foundation. In this capacity he was responsible for all fundraising and the administration of these funds at eight IU campuses. Under his leadership, the private support for IU is now among the top public and private colleges and universities in the nation. Mr. Simic retired in June 2008.
