Undergraduate Scholarships
For the 2012-2013 Academic Year
Application website opens:
Monday, February 27, 2012 at 8:00 am
Application website closes:
Friday, March 23, 2012 at 5:00 pm.
This allows four weeks to complete the requirements.
To make the process easier, there are a few things you can do to prepare:
- Create a Microsoft Microsoft Word* document and respond in 250 words or less per topic to each item below. Save the document and then copy and paste it into your application on the website!
- Write a brief statement detailing your career goals.
- Describe how an award will help you reach your career goals.
- Indicate why you are deserving of an award.
- Create your resumé/vitae in Microsoft Word*. Save the document and then copy and paste it into your application on the website!
*Microsoft Word(.doc/.docx) and Adobe PDF are the only formats the scholarship website will accept.

Campus Recreational Sports
Campus Recreational Sports offers several scholarships and awards to its employees and participants. Students cannot apply for these scholarships online. For more information on these awards, please visit the Campus Recreational Sports Web site.
Jim and Deanna Arterberry Scholarship
Awarded to a deserving School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation
student who is also employed by Campus Recreational Sports
with a GPA of 3.0 or better; employee performance will be evaluated
by Campus Recreational Sports personnel. Nominations are submitted
by personnel and nominees are contacted to complete an application.
Applications are reviewed by a scholarship committee comprised of the
Chair of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Studies, the Chair of Kinesiology,
the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and two employees from Campus
Recreational Sports. The award is presented at the School of HPER Undergraduate
Honors Reception in the spring semester.
The Hurst-Schlafer Scholarship
Presented annually to an outstanding junior in the School of Health,
Physical Education, and Recreation. Students must possess a satisfactory
grade point average and also demonstrate outstanding leadership and
participation in Campus Recreational Sports; this level of satisfaction
will be determined by personnel of Campus Recreational Sports
in consultation with the Dean of the School. The scholarship is provided
by the family of the late Lloyd Hurst of Highland, Indiana, in honor
of the late George Schlafer, who was Director of the Intramural Sports
Program and Professor in the Department of Physical Education. Nominations
are submitted by personnel and nominees are contacted to complete
an application. Applications are reviewed by Recreational Sports personnel
and the Dean of the School of HPER. The award is presented at the School
of HPER Undergraduate Honors Reception in the spring semester.
