HPER Building - Centers and Institutes
HPER is home to numerous research and service centers and institutes, several of which are located in the main building.
Aquatics Institute
The Aquatics Institute houses the Counsilman Center for the Science of Swimming and the Academic Diving Program. The institute uses the Royer Pool facilities in the Wildermuth Intramural Center.
Counsilman Center for the Science of Swimming
Named for legendary IU swimming coach and educator James “Doc” Counsilman, the Counsilman Center for the Science of Swimming serves as a research facility that provides state-of-the-art scientific assessment for swimmers of all ages and abilities.
The Academic Diving Program conducts research on underwater resources and promotes sustainable use of those resources.
Leisure Research Institute
The Leisure Research Institute provides opportunities for faculty and students to conduct research in the area of leisure studies.
National Center for Recreation Resources
The National Center for Recreation Resources provides consulting and technical assistance to recreation and park agencies and private organizations.
Rural Center for AIDS/STD Prevention
The Rural Center for AIDS/STD Prevention promotes HIV and STD prevention in the rural United States.
