HPER Building
The HPER building is home to the academic programs of the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation as well as the recreational programs offered by the Division of Recreational Sports. It was built in three stages: first, the Men's Gymnasium in 1917; second, the Wildermuth Intramural Center (formerly called the Fieldhouse) in 1928; and finally, the HPER addition in 1961.
HPER Library
The HPER Library is a branch of the Indiana University Libraries. With more than 25,000 books and 250 periodical subscriptions, the library supports the instruction, study, and research needs of HPER students, faculty, and staff. The library was renovated during summer 2006 to create improved work and study space.
Classrooms
HPER students attend the majority of their classes in the main building. Department of Applied Health Science classrooms 021 and 022 are specially equipped to teach first aid and CPR.
Enberg Distance Learning Studio
The Enberg Distance Learning Studio, named for award-winning sportscaster and HPER alumnus Dick Enberg, is a distance learning facility that can broadcast around the world via IU's satellite system. It contains a 20-student classroom, a fully interactive audio-visual system, and production facilities.
Dick Enberg, one of the most versatile broadcasters in sports history, earned a master's degree (1958) and a doctorate (1962) from HPER. During his 50-year career, Enberg has won 14 Emmy Awards, one of which is on display in the Distance Learning Studio.
